2016 was the eighth year of the P.H.O.T. Black Tail Deer Hunt in Northern California. Ranch hosts as always generously opened their homes, lodges, and ranch lands to our SOF service members. Five of our servicemen were given the opportunity to experience this unique outdoor event. Upon their arrival, the troops were treated to an appreciation parade through the towns of Livermore and Pleasanton followed by an outdoor barbeque feast on Rao Ranch.

After the banquet, each man went to their own assigned ranch for the hunt of a lifetime. For the next three days their guides led them through the golden California hills and mountains in search of black tail deer. All hunts were successful and each man harvested a buck. Our guys could not say enough about the good times they had or about the wonderful people they met on the ranches that hosted them.
